Tom Trainer is a director and shareholder of the firm practicing in the areas of elder law, probate and estate planning, and health law. He focuses on elder and special needs planning for senior citizens and special needs clients and their families. Mr. Trainer formed and leads the Elder Law Practice Group at Kemp Klein.
Mr. Trainer served on the Michigan Supreme Court Task Force of Guardianship Reform, and on both the Michigan and the National Advisory Panels on Alzheimer’s Diseases and Related Conditions. He is a former chairperson of the Legal Hotline for Older Michiganians and was a member of the Michigan Supreme Court Task Force on Guardianships and Conservatorships.
He has held a teaching position in the legal assistant program at Oakland University and is an author and frequent lecturer in the field of elder and special needs planning. He has served the community as an officer and director of the Rosemary and Larry Berger Education Foundation, a private foundation providing scholarships for Detroit high school students. He also serves on the Wayne State University – Institute of Gerontology Executive Committee, as well as the Leadership Council for Endowments and Scholarships and on its Cognitive Neuro Sciences subcommittee.
Mr. Trainer maintains an “AV” peer review rating with Martindale-Hubbell Law Directory, the highest peer review rating for attorneys. He was also selected for inclusion in the 2008 issue of Michigan Super Lawyers magazine featuring the top 5% of attorneys in Michigan.
