Patricia Paruch is a shareholder with a 25-year history of service to southeast Michigan communities from serving as Mayor of the City of Royal Oak from 1989 to1993, City Commissioner from 1979 to 1989, a member of the Royal Oak Planning Commission from 1979 to 1993, and Mayor pro tem for two years.
Ms. Paruch was a member of the Transportation and Environmental Affairs Committee of the Michigan Municipal League from 1991 to 1993. In April 1995, she was appointed to the Oakland County Public Transportation Authority by the Oakland County Board of Commissioners and served as the Authority’s Chair from 2003-2006.
Ms. Paruch chaired SEMCOG’s Special Task Force on Urban Enhancement. This Task Force was charged in 1992 with the responsibility for developing a strategy for re-development of older urban areas. In January 1994, the report of the Task Force, Revitalizing Urban Communities: An Action Strategy, was endorsed by SEMCOG’s Executive Committee and adopted by the General Assembly.
In 1988, Ms. Paruch shared the Michigan Society of Planning Officials’ Honor Award as a member of the Royal Oak Plan Commission with Graphic House, Inc. for the I 696 Woodward Urban Design Plan. In addition, she was one of only six Michigan municipal officials to receive the Special Award of Merit from the Michigan Municipal League in 1987. She served as Chairperson of the Finance and Taxation Committee of the Michigan Municipal League from 1985 to 1987.
