Richard Bisio is of counsel to the firm. He has litigated commercial disputes at all levels of the state and federal courts, administrative agencies and in arbitration. His cases involve contract, financing, real estate, partnership and corporate control disputes. He has represented lenders, borrowers, investors, developers and property managers in property disputes, including foreclosure, receivership and other litigation regarding troubled commercial, industrial and multi-family residential properties. He also has experience with noncompetition agreements, trade secret disputes, property taxation, and products liability matters.

He has appeared in administrative hearings before the Michigan Supreme Court to advocate rule changes and has drafted a number of proposals that the Court adopted through the years. Mr. Bisio was appointed to the Appellate Delay Task Force in 2002, which examined ways of speeding up disposition of cases in the Michigan Court of Appeals. Since 1994 he has been the permanent reporter for the Local Rules Advisory Committee for the federal court in Detroit. In that capacity, he oversees the committee’s work in commenting on and proposing rule amendments and has been instrumental in an extensive revision of the local rules of that court. He is also a member of the Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals Rules Advisory Committee.

Mr. Bisio has taught courses on civil procedure for the Institute for Continuing Legal Education and as an adjunct professor at Wayne State University Law School.
